What Does Barack Obama Stand For – What We Know About Him Now

30 Jan

What does Barack Obama stand for?

What does Barack Obama stand for?  As his reelection day approaches, many Democrats, moderates, and independents are asking what they are going to get if he is reelected for the next four years.   We have a pretty good idea of what Obama is going to do if he is reelected, and we will learn more about his ideas as we get closer to the 2012 elections in November.

What Does Barack Obama Stand For

A big part of what Obama does will depend on what happens in the House of Representatives and Senate.   The House will likely remain controlled by the Republicans.  The Democrats are expected to lose seats in the Senate, but it remains to be seen whether they lose majority control in the Senate.  Republicans need to pick up another four seats in the next election to gain majority control of the Senate.  If Democrats still have control of the Senate after 2012 and he gets reelected, I would expect Obama to push liberal policies.  If Republicans gain control of the Senate and he gets reelected, then I would expect Obama to move more toward the center.

So what does Barack Obama stand for?  Here are some key issues that Republicans care about when it comes to President Obama:

Religion

In the evangelical periodical Christianity Today, Obama states he is a Christian.  His parents were not Christians, and some have questioned his religious beliefs.  It has been speculated that Obama may actually be a Muslim.  This famous interview below called into question his true religious beliefs:

So what does Barack Obama stand for?  Is he a Christian or a Muslim?  Why did he have to be corrected on his own beliefs?

Healthcare

Obama is perhaps best well-known for signing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on March 23 2010.  This bill, better known as Obamacare, is making sweeping changes to the healthcare system of the United States.  It requires all citizens to purchase healthcare insurance, and it pays for healthcare for those people who can’t afford to get insurance.

Economy

Like his predecessor President Bush, President Obama passed an economic stimulus package in 2009 aimed at stimulating the economy.  He is a strong proponent of passing laws and stimulus packages to help stimulate a stagnant economy.

He has repeatedly stated that he believes the rich in our society should have to pay more.  He used to classify the rich as anyone who is making more than $250,000 per year.  In the 2012 State of the Union address, he made a statement saying that anyone making more than $1 million dollars a year is rich.

Obama ultimately feels the government is the key to stimulating the economy.  His views on the economy will not win him many votes among conservatives or small business owners.

Foreign Policy

Obama favors a policy of negotiating with our enemies to make peace around the world.  He generally opposes the use of force, and he has withdrawn all troops from Iraq.  He has tried to reach out to Muslim countries through TV and making appearances on foreign TV nations.  He successfully gave the okay to go after Osama Bin Laden, and he is credited with actually stopping and killing Osama Bin Laden.

Social issues

Obama ended the “Don’t ask don’t tell” policy in the military.  Homosexuals can serve openly in the military today.  Obama supports abortion rights for all women, and he co-sponsored the Freedom of Choice Act as a Senator in 2007.  This bill would have legalized partial-birth abortions, but as of now, we haven’t passed the law.

So what does Barack Obama stand for?  He stands for abortion rights, pro-homosexual agendas, taxes for the wealthy, mandatory healthcare for everyone, and negotiating with terrorists.  Do we really want him as our President for another four years?

I’m Canadian, and I didn’t know very much about what Obama stands for until I read this article, but now that I have read it I really hope that he get re-elected this year. Supporting women’s right to abortion, equality for people of different sexual identities, reducing the gap between the rich and the poor, improving the healthcare system, engaging in peaceful negotiations… Wow. He is truly head and shoulders above all other candidates.

I’m sorry, but I don’t support the women’s right to abortion, i’m sorry, but it’s stupid!! I’m a Christen, and in the Bible it says stuff about how life is important, and one of the commandments is do not kill. Well people of America, Abortion Is Killing!!!! Not only killing, but killing a child who hasn’t done anything wrong. God has a plan for everyone, he has a purpose for us, so before you go and kill your baby that’s not even born, think about it. One person can change the world. Obama, I don’t know what your story is, but IF you ARE a christen, think about it, does God really want that? I can tell you, the answer is NO!!!

I respect your right to have a different opinion than mine on the matter, and your right to feel strongly about it. I’ve seen good arguments for both sides; it really is a complicated issue, and although I am generally pro-choice, in certain situations I agree more with pro-life views. However, it is hard to take your argument seriously when you base it completely around your interpretation of Bible verses, and you can’t spell “Christian” correctly.

OKay what if a girl is raped and gets pregnant and shes sixteen and has no source of income, she cant have the right to her own abortion? that would suck. think about it.

Hi Susan. If a girl is broke, there are still costs associated with getting an abortion. The problem with your argument is that it assumes adoption is not an option. Trust me…I’ve thought about it!

First of all let me say this…Katico Birthstone You are a moron, it is very easy spot by your spelling of the word “Christian”..Also, the way you point out that the bible says “stuff”… It is called scripture, not stuff.. We have more people in this country now that we can’t find room for because of government letting illegals in. It seems to me they have said screw it, since we cant stop illegals we will help them. It does not matter to the officials in the white house that who it really hurts is the average citizen, we lose our job and believe it or not our country simultaneously because we have to learn Spanish and be harassed by Indians who own all the hotels and gas stations…yet we the real americans are not allowed credit or loans to buy anything to better ourselves..if i was illegal, i would be the proud owner of a hotel by now…

Ok Christian (chtisten) katico…if God is against abortion, then let God deal with the women who get an abortion…but do not let another human being control your life, or a government!!! Life is a test and only God can judge, reward, or punish us! “Live and let live”

Katico, America is about freedom, which includes freedom of religion. Not everyone in America is Christian, but why should they not be allowed to abort? And the bible says many things that I don’t see half the Christian population carry out. Aborting should be a personal choice left to the mother of that fetus. I feel as if you don’t understand what obama stands for at all. Listen to his speeches, and see what he has done in office. If you need to google it or find it on a site, you clearly don’t understand.

It’s better than putting a child through adoption, which a small percentage of kids are adopted and most them have no one to tell them they truly love. Studies show people growing up with a loving figure go into gangs. Also, if people want to argue about his religion, it’s a lesser known thing that Muslims are more peaceful than Christians, just the extremist take t too far in both religions. Plus, there is a separation of Church and State, so Obama’s ideas can’t be used if it’s influenced by religion. Lastly, it’s spelled “Christian”.

I am Christian as well, but the bible says nothing about killing being wrong, taking into consideration most of the old testament we were at war with the Philistines, so would God say killing is wrong and then send us to war? Simply put, no. Although I don’t agree with abortion either we cannot take a persons right to do it. Doing so would be an act of intolerance. Imagine if our forefathers wouldn’t have made freedom of religion a law? What if right now you were in a country that viewed Christianity as we view abortion. “I’m sorry but I’m not Christian so you can’t be either”. I would hate it! The US was founded on the belief that EVERYONE should be able to practice their beliefs, and if they believe that abortion is right for them then well they should be able to exercise it. Besides, just because it is legal doesn’t mean me, you, your family or the church will be EXPECTED to do it. Just like cigarettes and alcohol is legal, even though they kill your lungs and liver, doesn’t mean you are expected to smoke or drink. Our job is to love people to life by showing them the light in Jesus. People don’t change by having it shoved down their throats. They change by seeing the change in US!

I think to be a Christian, you should know how to spell it. Also, it isn’t a baby you’re killing, it’s a fetus you are removing. If a woman wants an abortion, it’s probably because she isn’t ready/can’t support the child. So, it the child was born, it would most likely have an awful life.

If you’re going to talk about the bible and killing, then take it one step further. The bible says you should not kill, period. Which means humans or animals alike. There’s no special statement saying animals are expempt, yet millions are killed each year so you can eat their meat, which we actually don’t need in our diet. So if you’re against killing babies because of the bible, then I hope you plan to become a vegetarian or vegan too. Or is one killing okay and the other not?

I think that we should have the right to get an abortion. Some people are raped and aren’t ready to have a child, such as the 11 year old girl who was raped and forced to have the baby because of anti-abortion laws in her state. There are children that will be born with hefty diabilities that not all parents can care for, so they end up being given up for adoption, and it’s very hard to place those children in homes. God gave us freedom of choice, and that is what Obama offers, too.

        October 27, 2012 at 6:58 pm

First of all the bible does say that you should not kill although it does not mention animals not being killed. There are many verses in the bible where people sacrificed animals to God. That was before Christ came to earth to shed his own blood for the sins of the whole world. It also mentions the animals that you may and may not eat. As for abortion I’m sorry, but it is MURDER, people. God says he knew us while we were still in the womb. That is not a little blob of tissue, it is a human baby. My son was born 2 months early and he was a very tiny baby. Not just a blob of tissue. If a woman gets pregnant due to rape, and does not want the baby give it up for adoption. And as for gay rights God calls homosexuality an abomination. It is not natural. In the bible God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of how evil they had become. Homosexuality and etc. That exact same thing will happen to America if we don’t turn back to God. All Obama is doing is showing how against God he really is, and is helping this country to be destroyed.

        October 27, 2012 at 7:53 pm

The bible is full of contradictions. People take from it the pieces they want in order to back up their own opinions. It says to love thy neighbor, period, not “love thy neighbor UNLESS they are gay, lesbian, black, etc.” Then later on goes to say being gay is an abomination. So which is it? Love everyone or only certain people? Also, in the beginning it says that Adam and Eve were to be basically vegetarians.

“See, I give you every seed-bearing plant that is upon the earth, and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit, they shall be yours for food. And to all the animals on land, to all the birds of the sky, and to everything that creeps on earth, in which there is the breath of life, [I give] all the green plants for food.” Hence, the animals were not meant to be eaten back then, but then later on it goes to say we can eat animals instead of sacrifice them (and who’s to say sacrificing them was right?)

Keep in mind, the bible also says you may beat your wife and sell your daughter. But now that is considered wrong and bad in this day and age. It said God had a war in heaven with Lucifer (satan) because God wanted people to have FREEDOM OF CHOICE and Lucifer did not. Yet a woman making her own choice with her body is now wrong according to the bible as well.

Like I said, it’s contradiction after contradiction and people take from it the pieces that they want to believe and that will back their own personal opinion. I like that Obama is Pro-Choice and for Gay Rights, because it means he’s sticking to God’s one rule that shows throughout the bible starting all the way back with Eve when she ate the forbidden fruit. We all have freedom of choice, whether we make a good choice or a bad one is on us, but regardless…that freedom should not be taken away.

Understand that “biblically” speaking, EACH PERSON HAS THE CHOICE so why should it be up to one individual to decide for every woman. I’m not saying I agree OR disagree but the choice to become a Christian is up to each individual so why shouldn’t the choice as to what we do with our bodies be as well. Fine, you are a Christian….have you ever been put in the position to even have to make such a horrible decision? If so, then you would know that despite your decision, YOU are the one that has to live with it…not me! Also, before you bring the Bible into your discussion, do you live by EVERY standard the Bible sets? NO, absolutely not, no one does but we that try know it’s also wrong to JUDGE others. By the way…learn how to spell “Christian”!

Okay so if a 13 year old girl gets raped you think she should have the baby and possibly DIE from all the pain? I’m a christian too and I know the bible says you can’t kill the baby but imagine a 13 year old getting raped,She could die from having that baby.PLUS you have to realize not EVERYONE knows god exists or the ways of a christian,You need to think about other peoples opinions instead of your own…And if you payed a little more attention to the news you’d know ROMENY is also planning on passing the law that Abortion should be allowed..Think..

there’s a reason for a gap between the rich and the poor, and it’s because the rich work harder for what they have.

Joe you are right. I work with business owners weekly who have made many sacrifices, and put their whole lives into their businesses. Greg buck-owner of Productivity Inc. is a prime example. Less government involvement and more small business support will create more jobs and get the economy going. Take a look around you-the people of today stand arond with their hands held out waiting for handouts, bailouts, stimulous money. This country wasnt built on that kind of attitude, it was built on hard work by all! So…. which direction should we go?

Thank you joe. I am not rich by any means and I do everything I can to help the les fortunate. But there is a fine line between the less fortunate and lazy…and I personally know ppl who are using welfare as a crutch..and sadly Americans can be very lazy..but then I thought about it, why would anyone want to find a job if they’re getting paid to do not have one…? This is the problem Obama is creating..They’re are three types of people voting for Obama, lazy people, those who are voting for the wrong reason, and those who have misinterpreted what Obama is doing for something good.

It’s not what they are doing to “their body” it’s what their doing to the body of an innocent child. Why is it that they don’t have to take responsibility for their irresponsible actions? What about adoption. OH NO they wouldn’t set up an adoption plan because it would inconvenience them and maybe make them feel some sort of pain, longing or even affection for that child, it’s because they are selfish.

In defense to Birthstone, the scripture “Thou Shalt Not Kill” is pretty clear…Not an interpretation!! I find it so frustrating when people refer to the Bible and its scripture as mere interpretations when it is so very clear on what God deems what is sin and what is righteousness. Seems like people only question the Bible when it states a fact about their own way of life, or the sin they are living in. People can believe what they will, but there is one cold hard fact; we all are going to die and that is inevitable. Where will you go? Heaven, hell, or just cease to exist? Are you willing to take that chance? Every man and woman has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God; that is a fact. How then can anyone be saved? God sent His only Son to take the punishment that we deserve, and be scourged, humiliated and nailed to a wood cross… For you!!! For me!!!! All that He asks of us to humble ourself and repent…Ask Christ into our hearts so that we may be saved from a certain eternal hell.. “All that call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” I pray for America and our leaders. I pray that Gods moral code will be given rejuvination. I pray that sin will be seen as sin and not choice. I am sorry people but homosexuality is a perversion, murder is a perversion, pornography is a perversion, worshiping any other God than the one and only is a perversion!!!!! Please America wake UP!!!!!!!!

You seem to be adept at simplifying complicated issues and, if that works for you, that is fine. My guess from your comments is that you are a Christian fundamentalist. We’ve all heard what you and your fellow “believers” have to say more than enough times, so please, keep your preaching to yourself. Choosing to be a “Christian” because you think it is the “safe” path and will minimize your risk of spending an eternity in Hell may be alright for you, but please don’t try to inflict your reductionistic theology on me. How much “faith” does your approach require? You’re merely playing the odds so that eternity will come out in your favor, and I think there are more accurate words to describe that than “faith”. Aristotle said the people tend to speak and act and behave as if the world is divided into pairs of things. You seem to certainly fit into that category (Christian v. Non-Christian; Republican v. Democrat; Christian v. Jew, etc.). To me, you tend to think and talk as if complicated personal, interpersonal and social problems can be viewed as existing in pairs when, in reality, the kinds of issues most of these folks are talking about are a lot more complicated than that. I respect them for trying to understand things that are not easily understood. I resist or resent your preaching to us. What assumptions have you made about us that cause you to launch into a homily? Are you even aware of your preconceptions, biases, prejudices? From your remarks, I don’t think you are. Who are you to judge me?

Thank you for having the courage to speak truth. This land was founded on God, but has lost it’s first love as the Bible puts it. Now people like you and me are seen as “simple” and judgemental. Yet we are the ones persecuted and hated for trying to protect our country by telling them the truth. God is real, He speaks to His people and I’ve felt His presence. Noone can tell me that He is not real. So we press on and stand for His truth until one day the whole world will have to answer to Him themselves.

I’m not Christian. I don’t believe in God. I don’t think he’s real. Does that make me a horrible person, no. There is proof Jesus was a living, breathing man. Was there proof of his “powers”? No, and never will be. It’s said when Christian people believe they need to shove their “Holy preaching” down our throats. Sure, it’s in the 1st amendment that we all have freedom of Speech, Religion, Press, Petition, and Assembly, but I also have those rights to tell you how I feel about God. Plus, the “One Nation Under God” wasn’t added until the 50’s or 60’s, and im pretty sure America was founded July 4, 1776, not July 4, 1964. Another thing, when the “Under God” part was made, I personally think that it means Under YOUR God, not the Christian God.

The only issue is that he has been president already, and well he has put our country more in debt and didn’t do anything he said he would /: and i dont really agree with abortion, because it was your choice to do it and well you should suffer the consequences. If you do have a kid and it’s a boy then when your kid go’s to a poublice restroom and a homosexual is peeing and begins to look and your kids penis and u cant do anything about it come right a response about how much you like it. Both these things have happened and have really jacked those kids up or go tell there parents you voted for that…

My only Question for you Patrick Hayden is why? Why should women have that right? Is it okay for people to go around killing others, for no reason? Your answer, i hope, is no, it’s not okay to go around killing. News flash everyone, Abortion is Killing, Killing Baby’s who’ve done Nothing!!

I’m not a mother or a wife, I’ve never even had a boy in my life so technically speaking I don’t have the insight of most women who have commented. However, I’m pro-choice. Personally, I’d never kill my own child. Even at this age I wouldn’t give myself the option, and I’d take responsibility for my actions wether I’m in poverty/alone or not. Yet not all girls my age think like I do. I’m a Christian, I grew up listening to Steve Green and Cedarmont Kids and even now I participate in the BigStuf Camps with my youth group. But I’ve though about this topic a lot, and I came up with a really simple answer: God gave me a choice to chose right from wrong. He rules over the world and provides justice for everything that happens in it. So what better way to rule a single country than to model it after the King. I think Obama does a great job in letting the people of the U.S choice their own lives. I don’t know if he’s a Christian or a Muslim, but I know he’s a father and he want whats best for his girls. I also know that if a woman wants an abortion and can’t get, she will either deal with it by living with her baby or killing it as she kills herself. All I’m saying is that a woman should have a right to chose, because my beliefs are mine and not everyones, and shoving what I think is right under people who think it’s wrong will make them angry with me and with God, and will steer them further away from Him. I’d rather the individual learn themselves so they’ll be ready for the next time.

if some women don’t get abortions then there will be more women on welfare or get more welfare if they already have children (some women can’t stand the fact of somebody else taking care of their children so adoption is not a option for them )plus medicaid would be flooding with hospital bills from babies being born(its a lot cheaper to get an abortion then to give birth and care for a child.also what about the children that will be born with disabilities and get ssi assistance (they really don’t want that)the government knows this, don’t let the Republicans fool you, they are with abortion to ,they just say they aren’t because they want the votes from the people, that don’t believe in abortions.abortions will never stop,EVER.sad but true

If we are building this case on not having the right to impose our beliefs on one another, then let’s go ahead and not impose the belief that it’s wrong to beat your child or kill your neighbor. That sounds absurd to you i’m sure, but it’s the same. Any law is imposing a belief. Should we just give up all laws? Of course not! And to the one who said God never said not to kill and told people to go to war, it’s actually one of the 10 Commandments, You must not kill. God tells us not to kill each other or take the law into our own hands. War is a government decision. Republicans are not trying to tell you how to believe, they are trying to protect individuals (babies included) and their invidual rights, resources and decisions.

i am a mother, a wife, i believe in god whole heartly, and i am a nurse. i believe every life has a purpose, if we kill our unborn we are missing a gift of love from our creater. i cannot see or understand ANY reason to kill these innocent childern. If i would have listened to everyone when i became a teen mom, i would not be a mother or grandma today. i have had 2 childern before i was 20yrs old. i wanted 12 childern, love big families, had ten misscarriages after them. If i let the people i loved and the world talk me into killing my 2 childern, the blessing of motherhood and birth would never have been mine. i also have had 2 friends kill their unborn children, even after being mothers , said they couldn’t afford another child or live with the child knowing they gave them up, well guess what they can’t live with the chose they made to kill those babies without deep heart ache and regreats. Open adoption is a blessing for all, a mothr’s heart with empty arms can be filled, a girl/women not ready to be a mother can always know how that child is and the blessing that god intended these little lives to be. As a nurse and as a victium, even rape with conception can be a blessing in the end. God can take what Santan meant for evil and turn it into a blessing, beauty for ashes. Please young girls/ladies think about your free choice, cause in the end it’s not ever Free.

So many people who claim to be of a specific religion and go to church, mosque and synagogues are crazy lunatics, it is not a reference! What’s important is to be honest and act in everyone’s best interest as much as possible!!!

I totally agree that legal age voters like yourselves shouldn’t be worried about the candidates’ religious views when our country has Freedom of Religion in the very first amendment (unless they want to totally get rid of a religion or obviously promotes a religion); there are more important factors when choosing the next president.

        * I think it WOULD be bad if they wanted to get rid of a religion/promoted one, just in case someone interpreted that in a bad way.

this article is completely biased. i am an 18 year old male, i stand pro-choice, this is because i believe that in some cases it should be recommended such as rape, incest, or if the birth of the child is to jepardize the health of the mother and this shouldnt be a government matter in the first place, this subject should be within the rights of the individual, period. i am also a christian and a republican. but as stated before as a republican i believe in the rights of the individual. also why on earth would it matter whether he is christian or not? every belief has extreamists and always will, but even in the bill of rights within the first amendment it clearly states “freedom of religion.” this article makes me sick when it states “negotiating with terrorists,” REALLY? get your facts straight. he is going there to negotiate peace and civility, but i am sure that if negotiating peace with ppl of opposing views is completely unacceptable to you then im sure we can just try and stay completely isolated like we tried to do with WW2 and have some more foreign attacks on our home soil, or should i bring up 9/11? how about we stick to negotiations with foriegn leaders of nations, like we have been since the birth of this country? even ronald reagan negotiated. now, what i do not agree with when speaking of Obama’s policies are, “obamacare” and making it almost impossible for small business owners to actually get their businesses going with all that taxation. now i am not saying i am for Obama, i am simply stating that this article is extremely biased, and will continue my research about the candidates of the 2012 election elsewhere because this is disgustingly unreliable.

Abortion? Gay marriage? Does anyone not remember that this nation was founded off of God? “One nation, under God” Does that not ring a bell to anyone? Hello! This country needs to wake up. We are living in very perilous times. Marriage should be between a man and a women. It is not a womens choice either, if you believe that then you are a sick and discusting person!! A girl shouldn’t have even had sex to begin with if she isn’t married! The baby has to suffer because of the choice of the mother? I pray God’s wrath and judgement be upon her. Even if she was raped, it’s still a life. There is always adoption. This country seriously needs to open their eyes. We’re all going to be judged according to what we’ve done and what we stood for. Godd bless this country.

No, this country was founded because of religious persecution, or rather, people (probably like you) that,to put it nicely, “are mean” to other people and don’t respect their beliefs. Thankfully, to this day this country has no set religion and the government and church are separate.

The Supreme Court has stated in the past that you cannot use your religion to break the law; the first amendment only protects your freedom of religion as long as it does not violate any laws and as long as it does not cause harm to others.

I don’t see what’s wrong with legalizing abortion or gay marriages. Just because it’s legalized doesn’t make it an obligation. You don’t HAVE to abort a child just because it’s legalized. You don’t HAVE to marry a person of the same sex just because it’s legalized. So why get so worked up over it? It’s not your choice to make. Personally, I’m against abortion but if it’s a young girl that got raped, a young girl with a bright future that got raped, I wouldn’t disagree with her choice (well, I wouldn’t outrightly disagree with her choice no matter what the situation because it is her choice, not mine). I get it, it’s an innocent life you’re taking away and all but imagine it this way, if the young girl can’t even take care of herself, how can she take care of another? Would you rather two ruined lives or one successful life?

I am 18 years old so the election in November will be my first. I am doing my research to see what each candidate stands for, & although this article was very helpful, I have to say it was very biased. It is obvious a Republican wrote this. I support Obamacare, because I believe that just because you aren’t wealthy you should have to suffer if you are ill or injured. However, I do not agree that the wealthy must pay more taxes, because they earned that money, whether it was dirty money or not. I agree with pro-choice and gay rights as well. I am now going to do my homework on Romney, but I’m pretty sure I’ll vote Obama or not vote at all. Thank you for this article, it was very informative despite the bias.

Well, the first point I want to get across is that you can’t “just post”, or people will “just skip you”. Not mentioning any names, but pointing out mistakes and doing them yourself is even worse.
I don’t really know (or care) if this article is for or against Obama, sure they tried to make the ending all red and “threatening” but they ended the article saying only good things about him. Maybe we shouldn’t be voting if the main factor here is religion. He could worship a rock and still be a viable candidate; what truly matters here is that he’s peaceful and pro choice. He isn’t telling anyone to go kill children or forcing people to marry each other; this man is letting people chose their own paths, do you all WANT someone to tell you that you can’t do something? For some reason it seems like people aren’t interested in picking someone who will help the whole nation; no, they want someone who will solely help them and support their beliefs only. All of you out there ranting on illegal immigrants stealing your jobs and whatnot, did you ever stop to think, “hmm, maybe they got the job because they’re better than me. *gasp*”; no I bet you’d much rather call them a racial name and put them down while making yourself feel better. People these days… you give them a president who wants to let them choose things and act nice towards other countries and they decide they’d rather have someone else. Yup, that works!

If for some reason you find yourself wondering,
No, they don’t let 16 year olds vote, I’m a boy, Christian, and yes, that means I’m 16 just in case it sailed right over your head.

I do not support Obama because because he doesn’t stand anywhere on any issue. I am a Christian as well and I do not agree with same sex marriage or abortion. By the way the actual bible verse is ” you shall not commit murder.” there is a difference between killing and murder. I do not claim to understand why a woman would choose to have an abortion, when there is a better option(adoption). God does speak against homosexuality. In fact he condemns ALL sin. All I am going to say is that I am not going to vote for Obama for sure. As for Romney, not sure yet…. Mormons believe that Satan is Jesus’s brother, that God lives on another planet, and the book of mormon is above the Bible, as well as other unbiblical beliefs. I wouldn’t pray damnation on anyone it is strange to see a (Christian?) would, but would pray that all come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Son of God, Savior and Lord. It is my prayer that any hurting mothers who have made the wrong choice would turn to the Lord, who understands, is compassionate, and judges righteously. I pray that they would seek the forgiveness that come through Jesus, repent and be cleansed from all unrighteousness. For the homosexual, I cannot understand the temptation, but will say that the Lords plan of salvation is for everyone who believes and repents. The Bible is very convicting. It is for your good. God resists the proud, and exalts the humble. I encourage everyone to read the Bible
, the living word of God. Love always.

  16. Alex

    August 17, 2012 at 5:30 am

I left this out earlier because my comment was getting a bit long.
I hope we all understand that people don’t just happen to decide they want an abortion after being pregnant for a few months. The brain starts forming in the fetus after about 16 days, and this is just the early stage, It only starts forming synapses during the 5th week; in other words, it’s not aware “or even there”. It’s a living thing made up of smaller living things but it’s not “alive” yet, it’s just a collection of cells. Calling abortion “murder” during this time period is like calling someone a murderer for killing a plant, spider, or simply getting cut ( you kill millions of cells ) which is basically the same thing ( I’m not saying killing plants, and spiders isn’t murder, I think it totally is 100% pure murder, but the general public doesn’t seem to think so). I would also like to point out that putting your child up for adoption isn’t a choice as “glorious”/”right”/”humane” as people want to think. That child is going to have serious emotional problems and will most likely have trouble connecting with others ( or who knows what else ); you’re basically casting your child into the world as a baby with nothing, that hardly seems like a better alternative when it could have been prevented from the start. It all depends on how you look at it. It once again comes down to the fact that YOU don’t have the right to tell another person what is right/wrong, and Obama lets people make that choice themselves.

  17. Jacob

    August 17, 2012 at 5:03 pm

I have a question? What is right and what is wrong? We do have the right to inform others of what is right and what is wrong. Wether or not someone listens is another story.

    August 18, 2012 at 5:57 am

I’m sorry, when I said “It once again comes down to the fact that YOU don’t have the right to tell another person what is right/wrong”, I actually meant that by voting to make abortion illegal you’re literally choosing for other people and forcing them to accept your views/choices; I most certainly didn’t mean to tell anyone that they don’t have the right to share their opinions; I guess I was unclear, but it’s called “pro-choice” for a reason.

Alex, what about the choice of the unborn? You, Alex, became a person at conception. If you were aborted, there would have been no Alex. The stages of life begins in the mother’s womb. He/she is cared for by the mother until he/she is born. He/she is then cared for by the parent/parents until (our society says) 18 years of age. He/she gets old, and He/she eventually dies. These are the stages of life. Does the unborn have a say in getting old like you and me?

      • Alex

        September 6, 2012 at 8:06 pm

I’d also like to point out that “while all life is important” no one follows that. People only care about humans and some don’t even do that. And scientifically speaking, if I was aborted it wouldn’t really matter; if you think about it few of us will actually help the world in our lifetimes and abortion might actually be killing off future people who might grow up to be the next Hitler or worse, we’re really just taking up space and using up resources. It’s such a happy thought 🙂

I don’t expect people to agree with this, you are free to think you’re very special and that we’re all good people, just the humans though, who cares if we cut down forests and kill off species right?

        * I don’t believe in cutting down forests or killing off species in any way, shape, or form.

If i get sick and can no longer work, i will be forced to go on total disability, As of now, that option still exists. Will it still exist under Romney? I doubt it cause the republicans are rich and they wanna stay that way and screw the rest of us. As far as the democrates are concerned, i am not sure what to think. I have a friend that spends his time trying to scare me about what will happen to this country if Obama is re-elected. Women should have the right to do what they want with THEIR body.

Does that include the body of the baby?

Answer this question. If a women whats to kill herself is that OK too?

PRO CHOICE should mean that a women has the choice to have sex or not have sex. It’s time to take responsibility for your actions. If you do not what a child, don’t have sex. If you have plans for your life that do not include taking care of a child and you don’t want an abortion is you get pregnant, don’t have sex.

Don’t get me wrong sex is a beautiful thing, but it requires maturity! Don’t let anyone tell you different!

Time to mature and act responsibly. The moral decay is horrendous. The lack of responsibility for your own actions is outrageous.

Everyone is focusing on the wrong question. The real problem is not the act of abortion. The real problem is why are so many people getting pregnant and not wanting the child! WHY?

I cannot believe that anyone makes a conscious decision to get pregnant and get an abortion. No one wants to get an abortion. It must be a terrible experience.

Then why are so many people getting pregnant and not wanting the child!

It’s because of the lack of responsibility for your own actions! Sex has been marketed to children and the immature.

Stop believing the social media and exercise some self control! If you are not ready for the responsibility of caring for, raising, teaching, and financially afford a child, then you are not ready for sex!

Don’t believe the movies, it’s just a movie! Don’t believe that song, it’s just a song. In the end, Hollywood just wants your money! That musician and the record company just wants your money! They will do anything to get it.

Parents need to take charge of there children and teach them whats right and wrong.

Teenage sex is wrong. Why? Because teenagers are not mature enough to make decisions like that! If you want a simpler answer. SO YOU DON’T GET PREGNANT BY ACCIDENT!

No one wants to be a teenage parent!

It’s simple. Parents you are dealing with pleasure hungry teenagers that are being bombarded from every media outlet promoting sex, drinking, drugs, and liberal agendas are socially acceptable. No, not acceptable but beyond that. That they are morally OK. That they must be indulging in all these acts to be accepted.

Talk with your children. What sounds like more fun to them!

    1. Having sex! being cool. being accepted by peers. being popular. getting a sexually transmitted disease. getting pregnant. having a child. getting an abortion. leaving school with no education or diploma to get a job in the workplace to support your child and partner? Not being able to enter society because you have given up your future for a life of hardship.

    2. not having sex till your older, being strong enough to stand up to peer pressure, being ridiculed by classmates and friends, working hard to finish school, going to college, getting an education so you can be a viable candidate in this tough job market, getting a good job, making some good money!, meet that someone special, get married, plan to have children, have children, enjoy watching them grow up!, being financially stable to provide to your spouse and children!

Parents teach your young children to understand that they are being brain washed and marketed to with every movie, TV show, song, video game and advertisement. Not only to buy products, but now also to get them to adopt taboo social and political agendas!

Every media outlet has been carefully planned to convince you that
“you need” to buy this because everyone else has it,
“you need” to have this type of car to be successful,
    “you need” to eat this,
“you need” to live like this,
“you need” to have teenage sex,
“you need” to take drugs to be accepted,
“you need” to drink alcohol to have a good time,
“you need” to dress like this or you will not be accepted.

Don’t believe it! It’s disgraceful what they get away with saying on TV ads. I’m all for freedom of speech, but to lie and purposely delude the truth like they do to make there product sound appealing. It’s crazy.

Does freedom of speech mean freedom to lie? What happen to false advertisement?

Everyone, get informed from both sides, from your our research and sources. Then make your own CHOICE! Don’t believe somebody’s hype.

So please stop pushing your liberal agenda to children so you can make your views seem attractive and acceptable to kids so they will support you. That’s disputable! Using kids to forward your agenda! It’s brain washing! You know who you are. You are the the great corruption in America!

Parents it’s time to step up and protect our kids from these media predators.

That’s not what this country was founded on! To anyone on the other side of these issues, remember, America will accept everyone! But certain things are morally wrong! You are free to do them, but don’t be surprised that you will be morally frowned upon!

Don’t start a mass market campaign to prey on young children’s insecurities so they will adopt your views, so you will feel better about being a social minority and outcast!

America was founded with Christan/Jewish views. It’s what made America stand out from the rest of the world and made us Great! Why else would everyone outside the America want to come here! Why do we want to abandon that!

The unborn child is unborn and so not even a child, that would be like waiting until a rock gives you it’s vote on whether or not to go to a hospital after a crash or something.

Hello “ME”, I wanted to reply to your comment, i’m sorry I couldn’t resist.

“Women should have the right to do what they want with THEIR body.

Does that include the body of the baby?” – ME

I agree women should have the right to do what they want with their body, and if you think about it, the baby is really just a parasite feeding off of her body and it’s not born yet.

“PRO CHOICE should mean that a women has the choice to have sex or not have sex. It’s time
to take responsibility for your actions. If you do not what a child, don’t have sex. If you have
plans for your life that do not include taking care of a child and you don’t want an abortion is
you get pregnant, don’t have sex.” – ME

I totally agree with you on the part about not having sex and that people should be responsible, but in a way having an abortion is being responsible about it; This isn’t the issue though, the issue is abortion. Sadly, people won’t stop having sex anytime soon, nor will they start taking responsibility.

“Don’t believe the movies, it’s just a movie! Don’t believe that song, it’s just a song. In the end,
Hollywood just wants your money! That musician and the record company just wants your
money! They will do anything to get it.” – ME

Blanket statements aren’t a safe thing to do. There are some movies out there that people really should look at and learn from, same thing with songs; The second part is also very offensive, musicians work hard to do the things they do and saying that all they want is your money is just not nice at all; almost nothing in this world is free, they have to pay for things too.

“Parents need to take charge of there children and teach them whats right and wrong.” – ME

Parents already are, and should be, doing this from the start.

“Teenage sex is wrong. Why? Because teenagers are not mature enough to make decisions

like that! If you want a simpler answer. SO YOU DON’T GET PREGNANT BY ACCIDENT!” -ME

This isn’t why it’s wrong; it’s wrong because it’s not what we should be focused on, and highly immoral in many communities. Your answer describes why it’s wrong for everyone to do it, adults are almost and occasionally as irresponsible and immature as teenagers are, teenagers aren’t the only age group that get abortions btw (By The Way).

“No one wants to be a teenage parent!” – ME

You sound just like one of those dads/moms that would kick out their son/daughter if they got pregnant/came home with a baby, how nice.

“It’s simple. Parents you are dealing with pleasure hungry teenagers that are being
bombarded from every media outlet promoting sex, drinking, drugs, and liberal agendas are
socially acceptable. No, not acceptable but beyond that. That they are morally OK. That they
must be indulging in all these acts to be accepted.” – ME

Again, blanket statements are just offensive. I am not a ” pleasure hungry teenager” nor do I look at media promoting anything you might be looking at. I certainly don’t believe that i need to do anything to be accepted by anyone, like you say. Liberal agendas/people are most certainly OK, lets not be mean to other people and shun opposing viewpoints based on names.

“Everyone, get informed from both sides, from your our research and sources. Then make
your own CHOICE! Don’t believe somebody’s hype.” – ME

It might be me, but you sure do sound very hyper, and all those !’s too…

“Parents teach your young children to understand that they are being brain washed and
marketed to with every movie, TV show, song, video game and advertisement. Not only to
buy products, but now also to get them to adopt taboo social and political agendas!” – ME

I think you’re one of those people that loves to contradict themselves. You earlier stated that we should hear both sides and make an informed choice, but now, you’re basically telling parents to tell their kids ” I believe in this so you better not question it and accept it as I tell it to you!”; this is not what people should be teaching their kids, they should be teaching them how to make an informed choice and how to form their own thoughts. If they do what you say it’ll just be creating an endless cycle of passing down their parent’s views, which to me sounds an awful lot like brain washing.

“That’s not what this country was founded on! To anyone on the other side of these issues,
remember, America will accept everyone! But certain things are morally wrong! You are
free to do them, but don’t be surprised that you will be morally frowned upon!” – ME

Certain things are morally wrong, but you can’t make that choice for people.

“America was founded with Christan/Jewish views. It’s what made America stand out from
the rest of the world and made us Great! Why else would everyone outside the America
want to come here! Why do we want to abandon that!

Christians and Hebrews take back America! Take it back from these liberal extremists!

It’s common sense! Use it! There is a right and wrong!” – ME

That last part reminds me of one of my favorite SONGs:

“What is wrong at the end of the day
What is really wrong no one dares to say
You know you’re wrong when there’s only one right
but what is wrong when right is out of sight” – Agnes Obel (Avenue)

Kind of offensive, ( you mentioned freedom of speech earlier so I assume you know your amendments, well, this is included in that very same amendment (the first amendment) and that is the freedom of religion/worship; you do have free speech, but you’re going against the first amendment by saying what you said, you’re not telling the truth and you’re causing harm so it might not even be protected by the freedom of speech, just saying) American was founded mostly by people wanting to escape religious persecution, the United States also has no official church because the church is separate from the government so please don’t say things like that, this country thankfully belongs to no set religion.

I’d also like to point out that you yourself are an extremist, and this might seem like i’m not taking you seriously (i’m not), but reading your comment felt like what I would imagine a long “fiery” church sermon to sound like, I thought that this was the only appropriate response style.

I like this blog so much, so many different views, so few on the real issue. 🙂

Obama may not be the BEST choice, but we are better off with him for another 4 years than MITT ROMNEY! Romney is truly a greedy man! As for abortion, yes I am a Christian as well to the person who left a comment below, but you need to respect others choices. That’s what FREEDOM is all about, have we forgot what our country stands for? I just wish is was RON PAUL 2012 not MITT!

Why are people so nasty to each other in online discussions about religion and politics, I couldn’t imagine someone tearing me or anyone else down like that face to face. It’s easy to talk when your hiding behind a computer screen. Christians are not stupid and ignorant because we base our beliefs on the Bible. Maybe if you would actually read the Bible, instead of ripping people who do, you might find out why we lean on it so heavily. Who knows, maybe you may find some actual truth. One last thing, people say Christians are stupid and ignorant, well what are you basing your beliefs off of, is it even as credible as the Bible? Are you basing your opinions on other peoples opinions because you happen to agree? How do you back up your claims, we have our source the Bible, what is yours?

Obama has had positive and negative moments. I think it is important to look at everything from an unbiased stand point and make a rational decision based off the facts. Of course Christians don’t usually agree with homosexuality and abortion but we have basis in the Bible for those beliefs as well as social and economical reasons to oppose both. Christians can’t expect people to just take them for their word, our goal is to be an example for Christ. I don’t blame some of you for tearing down Christians, we can seem sheltered and ignorant, but please show some respect of other peoples beliefs and we will show respect to you.

Just because people don’t say these things in real life doesn’t strip them of their validity; online chatting is probably the only place someone can truly say what it is they want to say without fear of anyone or anything.

“I couldn’t imagine someone tearing me or anyone else down like that face to face.” – Michael

The fact that you say this probably means that at this point you’d start hitting/or swearing at the person you’re talking to, neither of which can lead to a productive argument.

I personally think that anyone who solely bases their beliefs based on something someone tells them or based on something they read, without actually believing in/understand it and actually forming their own opinions on it, is very stupid. You shouldn’t need to be leaning on the Bible to support your own opinions.

“One last thing, people say Christians are stupid and ignorant, well what are you basing your
beliefs off of, is it even as credible as the Bible? Are you basing your opinions on other peoples
opinions because you happen to agree? How do you back up your claims, we have our source
the Bible, what is yours?” – Michael

The Bible isn’t credible to everyone because not everyone is Christian ( ask yourself if you think holy books, other than the one(s) tied to your religion, are credible if you don’t believe me ), if you only base your opinions on what you get from the Bible, what makes you any different from the next guy? People who do think Christians are stupid/ignorant think so because, some people, get really into it and tend base their beliefs on what they read from the bible and what their priest tells them; this almost makes them look like a big mindless group who, by looking at things like the Witch hunts/trials or “The Monkey Scopes Trial” and many more events, doesn’t always make the best choices. It’s like you’re getting brainwashed, just like in ME’s comment, except, not the way he meant it.

I’m not saying that if you’re a Christian you’re making the wrong choices, or that you shouldn’t take things from the bible or your priest. There are probably more factors that made those people do what they did, but the fact that they were all so ready to believe what they were given certainly played a role. Just make sure that you understand what it is you “believe in” and what you don’t.

Christians don’t respect any other belief other than their own most of the time. I can speak from experience when I say: As a whole Christians are some of the most judgmental and intolerant people on earth.

The important thing to remember though, this shouldn’t be about religion; we live in a country where people are free to do almost everything they want to do, it’s not our problem if people abuse those freedoms, nor is it our job to decide whether or not it’s time to limit the freedoms we have. People should be able to decide if they want to have an abortion or to put their baby though our “glorious” adoption system. I really hope that this issue never gets resolved because as of now, abortion is protected under the 4th and 14th amendments and if by some horrible odds abortion gets banned, people will move on to something else and pretty soon we won’t be living in the land of the free anymore.

*I don’t think that other holy books aren’t credible, I meant that if you believe in one over all the others, chances are you think more highly of that one book.

        September 10, 2012 at 11:20 pm

You have a good argument, and this is true many Christians do fit this description. But a true Christ follower is called not to judge others,”Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God?” Romans 2:1-3. All I am saying is that you should not be so quick to pass judgement on us when you don’t understand our beliefs. I welcome you to read some of the Bible to find out what we believe.

Back to Politics, I agree we should not be forcing our religious beliefs on other people. As Christians we want people to know the good news of the Gospel, but it is up to God to capture people hearts. Even if you do not believe that God exists, Christians have a worthy goal and if God doesn’t exist we are no worse off. When you look at issues like abortion and homosexuality, you have to realize we are looking at two sides of the same coin. Abortion for example, the way I see it life is valuable at any stage of life starting at conception and if killing a 2 year old child is wrong then killing an unborn child is wrong. Pro-Choice sees it as an issue of mothers rights, that the mother should dictate what is done with her pregnancy. We are fighting with two separate arguments that both have merit in their own way. I think it is important to not judge the other side to quickly on either end, you need to find out where the other side is coming from.

Also, many Christians are well educated people, personally I know several with advanced degrees in science, math, psychology, and theology. They are not just basing their political views on what they believe in the Bible. Just like everyone, it is important to look at the social and economical aspects of each issue, isn’t that how everyone does it? Just because we base our moral standing off the Bible does not mean that it is the only source we use to back up our views. There are many people who are not Christian that believe the exact same thing. My mother is a nurse with a masters degree in health education, she sees the affect abortion has had on our society in the past 20-30 years. Birth rates have dropped, according to the CDC. (http://usgovinfo.about.com/cs/censusstatistic/a/aabirthrate.htm) I don’t think that is because of the bad economy, more likely it is because of the 55 million abortions that have occurred in the US since Roe v. Wade. Lower birth rates means lack of work force, which means who is going to be paying your Social Security when you retire because there will be more elderly than the economy can support leading to euthanasia. I understand this is speculation, just pay attention to my point that our political beliefs are swayed by more than what the Bible says.

Even those among the most educated can be fooled/led astray; just because you have higher learning doesn’t mean you’re safe from “that category”. You’re also judging me on the fact that I judged other people by saying that, so you’re doing it too, no one is perfect. You also said it yourself that you lean on the Bible to support your beliefs, and that the Bible is your source and that you back up your claims with the Bible, which you have done.

We are fighting with two separate arguments, some people feel that it’s moral wrong to allow abortions, and some believe people should have the right ( not only the privilege ) to be able to have an abortion if they think it’s the best option. I like to think of it as a big “y”. Our arguments both start at the top of the “y” and go towards the same point, but the side with the “pro-life(ers)”
stops, because they only support their own views and not the other side’s, on the other hand the side with “pro-choice(ers)” continues downwards to “the finish line” because it tolerates both the people that don’t agree with abortions and those that do ( and because they have better names, they don’t call people “pro-death”, simply what they really are “anti-choice”).

Christians do want to make everyone Christian and “share the Gospel with everyone”, thank you for pointing that out; why should a religion have to actively go out and recruit people by forcing people to listen to their views? Do you see Wiccans coming to your door asking you to join them? Do you see movies based on how intolerant and judging Buddhist monks are? No, of course you don’t, yet they still have followers… How puzzling to think that maybe that kind of behavior could work for all religions who do go door to door, etc.

*I’m sure there are more faiths out there that don’t “actively recruit” that I didn’t mention.

*When I say “actively recruit” I mean things like: Handing out pamphlets at malls, having concerts dedicated to new members, standing on corners of busy streets and yelling, put annoying papers on your windshield, vote based on religion, vote on things that don’t affect only their religion based on their own religion, etc.

hi, im a Christian, I used to be pro-choice before as well, but my view completely changed when I heard a preacher and he was a survivor of a failed abortion, God had a
plan for him! Because of him many people have come to the knowledge of who Christ is! Abortion is definately murder! I know you may not all agree with me, I cant make u see that. But think about it, I really feel like abortion is selfishness. It really is. amd u guys are right about rape, but its really not that new life’s fault…it was the person that raped…what that man only gets 20 years of a sentence and a right to live and they baby inside that wound doesnt? I mean common sense here…its not just a biblical issue, its about your morals if u cant stand for murder then why are you still standing for murder? they just call it fissue

Everyone has their own opinions and views on Homosexuality and abortions, so stop trying to change them, respect them instead. Those who are strong christians or whatever, DON’T force your views on others. Not everyone believes in the same religion as you. Basically what you’re doing is forcing your religion on people who either don’t believe in a religion or have a different religion. What about Jewish people or Muslims or athiests who want an abortion? Oh they can’t because a lot of christians voted against it. I know abortions are wrong. I don’t like them. However, taking away the FREEDOM of choosing is wrong also. Same goes for homosexuality. They have THE RIGHT to get married. It’s not your call to take away their freedoms just because they are different. No one’s perfect, we all have our differences. Taking away a person’s rights is the same as killing a fetus because you’re taking that person’s life, meaning you take away their happiness and freedom. And those who aren’t christians and are pro this stuff: lay off. Christians have a right to voice their opinions. Freedom of Speech and Religions guys, c’mon. You shouldn’t mock them for their beliefs. You can disagree, but don’t hate on them and fight. Everyone please, just RESPECT each other’s opinions. If you disagree, then Just simply disagree. Just don’t try and place your opinion as everyone elses. And if you’re wondering, i’m a catholic who’s AGAINST abortion, but Pro homosexuality. Why? Because WE ALL HAVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF FREEDOM NO MATTER WHO WE ARE. Meaning, i’m anti abortion PERSONALLY, but i believe that EVERYONE has the right to CHOOSE whether or not they get one. And if i misspelled, sorry i’m on my iphone and we all know how small the keyboard is

I don’t understand what you’re saying, it’s like you want people to somehow race to post their views, whatever they may be, and then anyone who disagrees with them shouldn’t post because it’s not respectful and is “fighting”. I know everyone has their own views, and everyone should be free to practice those as they please; however, by being “pro-life” (anti-abortion) you’re not letting others have the freedom you enjoy, you’re forcing them to practice your beliefs. My point is basically this: Even if you are “pro-life” (cause you know us “pro-choicers” ( anti-life according to pro-lifers), we sure hate life) you shouldn’t be using your beliefs to get in the way of someone else’s beliefs, you can just practice them alone and let others practice theirs on their own. Even shorter and straight to the point: Don’t ruin it for the people that want abortions by voting to make them illegal, vote to make them legal, that way you can be happy and still be against them and other people that want them can be happy too.

You can’t claim something like this abbas child, not everyone is Christian, and not all Christians believe in Jesus; also, you can believe that if you want to but I am my own person, thank you.

Btw(by the way) abortion isn’t the only form of murder practiced by people; the death penalty exists in a majority of States in the US.

PS: I don’t agree with murder or with using the death sentence, those people don’t deserve mercy. Also, keeping someone in prison for life basically means they’re dead, or worse even, and is also more inhumane than abortion.

you go obama!! womens rights 🙂 why should a women be made to do somethin if she isnt in the right position in her life at that moment, thats her right her body thats about to under go all those changes n her life thats affected by it not anyone else. whats the point of being a free country if u take all our rights away, keep the spirit of freedom alive n give citizens more choices,. if you fall in love with the same sex so what, just bc your a christian doesnt make this wrong im sure theres tons of christians with tattoos n piercings and the bible says dont do that. who the hell is anyone to say two ppl who truly love each other cant get married! its their life and why is it harming you, just cause u personally arent gay doesnt mean u needa tell gay ppl what they can and cant do. and free healthcare why would anyone oppose that…

and that was an excellent point the death penalty exists thats murder and i understand that the childs innocent n the criminal is not but ur still killing.. when did circumstancial murder come into play with the death penalty.. why cant it come in for abortions as well? pro choice is the way to go for all u christians u get to keep it or maybe give it up if thaats the best choice for you. but its not anyones place to tell a women what to do with her body. idc who u are god or not cus not everyone believes in the bible n god. let ppl live their lives instead of tryna to make them live thru a religion, christians will still get their way n so will nonchristians u will still b able to keep ur kid n pray for the ones thats dont but dont try n control someone else’s life, live ur own.

    EXACTLY!

The point isn’t about being wrong or right; no one can tell you you’re wrong or right with these kinds of issues because it’s a personal opinion. The point is that people should be free to HAVE that opinion and that’s what people should be focusing on. Just because you support making abortion legal doesn’t mean you support abortion; supporting legal abortion means that you’re pro-choice and that you believe that just as you have the right to decide abortion is wrong, other people have the right to decide it’s something they want to do.

In way abortions are like pot. You can make it illegal but people are still going to do it. If abortions become illegal I have a feeling we are going to see a lot more women die from home/back alley abortions.Plus, yeah adoption is always possible, but personally in a case of rape, what if that child comes looking for you. I’m not in support of abortion, I just feel as though its better if people dont force their own beliefs on others.

I agree with Obama on pro gay rights. I think that people should have their choice to have an abortion or not. What i don’t agree on about abortions is the partial birth. I think that that is wrong. I think that if you make to the choice to have an abortion then it should be before a certain time during pregnancy. Obama has good plans for this country and i support him 100%.

    Dear James,
The reason that there are so many illegals in the United States, doesn’t mean that they are taking our jobs. Most of them come from Mexico so that they can get a better job or a better life. America is seen by many in other countries as the best country there is and I think that everybody living here can agree. But your ignorance scares me a little. By what you said, you don’t seem to have travelled out of the U.S. Now, I’m not going to say that I know everything that is going onion the world but what I am going to talk about is what I have seen in Mexico. There are little girls on the street selling candy so that their family can have a meal. They vary in ages but have you done anything like that when you were smal? Doesn’t seem like it. The poor, they wear rags and will do anything so that their family can survive and often times come here illegally so that their family has a better future. If you want to know what more about this, watch Under the Same Moon. Maybe that’ll teach you some enlightenment.

the bible isn’t the easiest words to understand but it is the oldest book out there. God has created each individual in His own image with the ability to choice right from wrong. Nobody has all the answers, yet we were not equiped for that. To love God and love others as ourself. What does it mean to love? One of the cool parts about Jesus coming to earth and dying for us is that now we can have the wisdom to know that our ideas are not enough. I think that all God wants us to do is take his words in as truth and see things the way He does in the best way we can by the help of the Holy Spirit. We plant seeds by what we do and what we say but He’s the one that makes them grow.

I believe that every woman has a choice to do with her body as she chooses. As a woman, that is is your right. But every woman has the responsibility to be responsible for her body. If your one of the women that uses abortion as a form of birth control, then you should be sterilized, just like a rapist or child molester! There are some circumstances where medically you have to end a life, to safe a life.

I have to reply to this: REALLY: What if there were more women that took responsibility for their decisions, ie….used birth control, didnt have one night stands and so on….If you don’t want a baby then you should take all necessary precautions to prevent it, and not use abortion as birth control. Although everyone has different circumstances, I understand. Why, because I have been there. I was 14 and listened to an older guy, got pregnant. My mom gave me 3 choices: Get married, Abortion or be put in a home for unwedded mothers. We got married. Could we afford a baby? No, but abortion was not going to be the option. Did I worry about how I was going to take care of our baby, yes. We both got jobs! (go figure) We never used the system to help us either. I turned 16, 8 days after my son was born. I am thankful for him everyday! He will be 33 this month. He is married and has a wonderful little boy. It was a struggle, but I am glad that I made the right choice to be responsible for myself and my baby. At the end of the day, YOU are responsible for your choices, not anyone else. P.S. Again, use birth control, if you don’t want someone else taking care of your baby, or you can’t afford a baby. Unless it’s not medically necessary, there is no reason for you to have regrets later, because you can’t take it back…..

if some women don’t get abortions then there will be more women on welfare or get more welfare if they already have children (some women can’t stand the fact of somebody else taking care of their children so adoption is not a option for them )plus medicaid would be flooding with hospital bills from babies being born(its a lot cheaper to get an abortion then to give birth and care for a child.also what about the children that will be born with disabilities and get ssi assistance (they really don’t want that)the government knows this, don’t let the Republicans fool you, they are with abortion to ,they just say they aren’t because they want the votes from the people, that don’t believe in abortions.abortions will never stop,EVER.sad but true

If you are trying to make Obama look bad you aren’t. Most of my generation are pro choice. That includes things like gays, religion and abortion (although I don’t approve of abortion myself) and want a leader who represents that. As far as his religion goes, I can’t really say what it truely is. I can say that not all Christians believe the same. I think people do need medical coverage because hospital and doctor bills are too expensive. I also think it is good that he is trying to make peace around the world. True conservatives would approve of that.
