What Does Rick Santorum Stand For – Is He a True Conservative Candidate for the GOP

09 Jan

So what does Rick Santorum stand for?   It wasn’t long ago that most people could care less about the candidacy of Rick Santorum.  He was running in the single digits in most Republican primary polls.  Most people barely knew who he was.  Some people still don’t know anything about this guy.  While most Democrats have never paid attention to him, only some Republicans could tell you the first fact about him.  He served in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from 1991 to 1995.  After 1995, he served in the US Senate until 2007, and he lost his seat during re-election in 2006.

What Does Rick Santorum Stand For

Out of nowhere, Rick Santorum has become a contender in the GOP nomination to face President Obama in the 2012 elections.  He is the ultimate anti-Romney candidate.  The Tea Party loves him because they see him as someone that represents his values.  So what does Rick Santorum stand for?

Family Values

Santorum is not afraid to take a stand for traditional values.  He is pro-life and vehemently opposes same-sex marriage.  He is a strong proponent of heterosexual relationships and traditional child rearing.  He is concerned that the Supreme Court is making too many decisions about moral issues that the public should be making on their own.  Santorum has taken a lot of heat for his opposition to homosexuality, as he has explicitly stated that “I have a problem with homosexual acts.”  He feels that many of the old laws against adultery, polygamy, sodomy, and other acts should have been upheld.  If you want to know what does Rick Santorum stand for when it comes to family values, you should know that he strongly supports traditional values.

Foreign Policy

Santorum favors strong foreign policy initiatives against our enemies.  He feels the War on Terror started by the Bush administration can be won, and he supported President Bush on his leadership in occupying Iraq and Afghanistan as long as necessary to bring peace to these regions.  Santorum has recognized the threat of Islamic fascism in the Middle East and throughout the world.  He is pro-Israel, and he feels that Israel and Lebanon must be strong to counteract Islamic terrorism in the Middle East.  He strongly opposes having talks with known terrorist harboring nations like Syria and Iraq, as he feels we cannot negotiate with radical Islamic extremists.

Illegal Immigration

Santorum is opposed to illegal immigration.  He is vehemently opposed to amnesty for illegal aliens, and he feels that we need to take a stronger stand against illegals entering the country.  He wants the border fence to be built.  He would support National Guard troops being used to protect our borders with Mexico and Canada, and he also wants the United States to re-establish English as the official language in the USA.  What does Rick Santorum stand for when it comes to immigration?  He supports immigration through the standard immigration laws already in place.

Teaching of Intelligent Design in Schools

Santorum feels that students in schools need to be taught opposing views as it relates to evolution and intelligent design.  While students have been taught evolution over the last few decades, Santorum feels it is important to teach about “competing scientific interpretations of evidence.”  The “Santorum Admendment”, as it became to be known, was passed by the US Senate, but it was not included in the No Child Left Behind bill of 2001.  Some language from the law was included in other literature that was submitted by the conference committee in the No Child Left Behind law.

So what does Rick Santorum stand for?  He stands for pro-life.  He believes in traditional family values, and he opposes illegal immigration.  He feels we need to have a strong military and strong stands against terrorism around the world.  If a friend asks you what does Rick Santorum believe, you will know what to tell him!

I can’t stand listening to this guy. It seems he is against everyone that is not like him. He is going to get slaughtered by Obama. Romney strikes me as the more pragmatic minded option.

I think that Rick Santorum has a hidden agenda and down deep is a hypocrite. He seems to judge everything and everyone. This is not a person that should be our president. I do believe he is a
acting TRUE CONSERVATIVE (please read what conservatism actually means, very scary) to the public to get the republican vote but he will not be getting the average american vote. He wants to go back to the dark ages where only the aristocrats had rights and the people were slaves to the aristocrats. I believe he would take away women’s rights if he could. He is anything but a christian.
He does not want or believe in helping anyone and that is what America is about.

first of all he isn’t a christian. Your right! He is Roman Catholic. and all of your comments are just rude. who cares what you believe. If you dont believe he is right. then dont vote for him. And definitely dont leave rude comments like these. its what he believes in. i think he has great potential.

If this Hitler wanna be wants everyone to be like him he’s not only boring but extremely vain! Wake up & smell America Santorum … we are the melting pot. We speak all languages!!! If you want the official language to be English in your country … go live in ENGLAND! After all … the real first language here belonged to the Native American people. LOSER! I hope Romney kicks your butt badly for the nomination!

He seems to focus too much on family values which are important for the individual person or family. What about the value of a person to maintain there life with a job, health care just the normal everyday living that has become hard and difficult everday living. He will never know anything about that because he never had to experience it. When you are out here trying to survive from day to day who cares about anyone’s religion. These people worry to much about personal issues than anything. If he was a jehovah witness what would be his campaigne? they think their values are traditional too. I don’t care who the president is if you try to pass a law saying that women should not get abortion regardless. And both child and the mother dies because it was a high risk pregnacy then who are the murderers. If it was their own daughter that had to deal with a chioce like that i am almost sure that they would choose to keep their daughter from dyeing

Jewels, my dear, such hate for someone trying to be persuasive. Try to be reasonable and while it is a noble thing to act holier than thou and throw shocking things such as Hitler into your banter, it shows you are clearly out of touch. Are you a parent? Do you own a home? Do you doing anything to fight crime? Are you actively involved in your community helping the poor, elderly, challenged? Most people are not yet the internet is a great place to act “holy” and “intelligent”.

To bad the resumes are not required to post on the internet. Oh well, it is great intertwinement for those of us who are secure in how we are making a difference in the world no matter how sad it can be at times. Who knows, you or your family may be the very people we are trying to help.

Interesting … No name that I can reply to??? If anyone is trying to act holy it’s Santorum. Although I don’t have to defend myself since I’m not the one trying to lead our nation … I do have 3 children, I am in touch, I do attend our Republican conventions in San Diego, & my family & I have always believed in helping others. We do a lot for our community! We have been fortunate to have more than enough, so don’t worry, you’re not helping my family. I’m simply stating my opinion as everyone else has. Free country right??

I wonder what Santorum plans to do with us seniors and disabled people if elected? There are people born with disabilitys who can’t work and be a productive member of society. And then there are those of us that became disabled after working many years and the seniors . We paid into our social security and yet we are made to feel like its charity ! I am an American born and raised anything I have I worked for no one gave it to me !! This country has gotten to the point where we are the ones they want to throw away . I want to see a president that will protect this country first before helping another country. Feed our people and let us have the right to live like everyone else does. If after you take care of this country you have something left them you can give it away ! Right now the help is needed here in this country . Our medicare system is a joke ! Since when do we let insurance companies decide when we can go to the doctor, when and what tests we can have, what medications we can take ??? I would like to be able to see the doctors I choose, get the tests my doctor orders without getting permission from some ins. person ! As for medications the costs are unreal ! Meds that I should be taking I cannot afford so I do without. How would Santorum or any of you feel if that was your mother, sister , daughter , or grandchild ?? So before you vote be dern sure what the person stands for and what they will just say to get your vote.
    Thank you,
    Nettie

As long as obama is not re-elected I would vote for Romney or Santurum. Obama has deceived us for the pastalmostyrs and I am sick and tired of his lies. I will not say Romney or Samturum will not lie , but it could not be any worse than Obama. I am not predudice in any way I just do not like liars.
