What Does Mitt Romney Stand For

11 Aug

Learn more about what does Mitt Romney stand for!

As the GOP candidates gear up for a run against President Obama in 2012, many Republicans and conservatives want to know what does Mitt Romney stand for?  Is this the guy we want running our country in 2013?  Does he have the economic background to get our country back on the right track?  Can he lead America back to greatness?  Is he going to help us keep our energy prices down?  We know a lot about Mitt Romney from his failed nomination bid in 2008, but he has a better chance to win the GOP nomination for 2012.

Mitt Romney on Energy Policies

Romney has publically stated that we are using too much oil, and he is in favor of exploring alternative energy sources like nuclear, ethanol, biodiesel, and coal gasification.  He also favors oil exploration in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.  He feels that the United States should be more independent and less reliant on foreign energy resources.

Mitt Romney on Immigration Policies

What does Mitt Romney stand for on immigration policies?  Romney favors a strong legal immigration policy, and he favors deporting illegal aliens who have not followed the proper procedures for entering the country.  He is against amnesty for illegal aliens, but at the same time, he does not feel we can round up all of the illegal aliens who have entered the country.  He believes that the federal government should cut off funding to sanctuary cities that encourage illegal immigration.

Mitt Romney on Foreign Policy

Romney states he believes that the US Congress does not need to officially declare war to take military action.  He believes that Guantanamo Bay should stay open.  He is opposed to using torture as part of US military interrogation strategies, but he does approve of enhanced interrogation techniques.   He has not specifically indicated whether he believes that waterboarding is torture, but he has stated he would refer to military experts on the subject.

Mitt Romney on Gun Control

Romney has stated that he supports the second amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which gives citizens the right to bear arms.  Despite his views regarding the second amendment, he is in favor of a ban on assault weapons. He supported the Brady Bill in 1994.  In earlier days, Romney did not support the NRA, but in 2008, he stated that he is a member of the NRA.  He hunts small game in Utah, but he does believe in some gun restrictions.

Mitt Romney on Healthcare

Romney passed a statewide healthcare mandate for the state of Massachusetts when he was the Governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007.  He signed the bill in 2006 requires all Massachusetts residents to purchase healthcare coverage.  This bill could complicate matters in his run for the presidency, as many conservatives want ObamaCare to be repealed if Obama is not re-elected in 2012.  Romney has publically stated that he feels ObamaCare is not right for the United States, but he still supports his own state legislation from Massachusetts.

If you want to know what does Mitt Romney stand for, you don’t need to look any further than his recent statements since 2008.  He is consistently moving more to the right as we close in on the 2012 elections.

Ok i believe neither a republican or a democrat is right for this job, i believe we need a pres and a vice pres with liberal ideas and of independent party. He suffices the needs of both republicans and democrats and can bring our country to its former self. That being said, I don’t think there is a candidate who fulfills those characteristics. Romney is good, Obama is good. Put them together and 4 years later our country will have a bright side guaranteed. However i still believe that this kind of campaigning is more of a popularity contest just like in school back in the day. Jocks with cheerleaders etc

Ron paul was under “green party” or “Libertairan” Last term..He was on the ballad. There are always more then TWO choices.. Its just weather or not you feel the need to cast a vote for someone not so popular.

No. Paul wants to end all foreign aid, and legalize marijuana. Those two things alone are red flags. Liberals have run this country down to the point of where it is now. No more of that nonsense.

I don’t like what he stands for either because he stands for nothing, and everything whatever you stand for he agrees if you are in the room. He has no foundation, just rhetoric and he has no intentions of keeping his oath to the constitution. I will not vote for anyone but Ron Paul..

Please people, where are your brains….unless you earn $100,000 or more you are in the poor house with all the rest of us, so why would you vote to cut your own throat? Pay no attention to what our President is doing or saying, just read what Mitt and Newt want to do to this Country, just read what they are running on, it will scare the dung right out of you. So if you don’t need social security, Medicare/medicaid, a US Postal System, National health care for all, then go ahead and vote. Don’t blame our President, he is doing his best with the Congress he has, vote them out not him. If you were sorry about what Bush did and didn’t do, you’ll be worse off with another Republican in office. Just think how easy it will be for the next Republican to run after this election IF things do not get better, then it will be Obama’s problem, Meantime he has bent backwards to work with the Republicans….now it is time the Republicans would with him to get things done.

Liberal. Obama has done nothing. His attempts at “fixing” our economy has backfired numerous times. But oh, that’s the “republicans fault”. Was Obama not the one proposal all the bailouts and tax cuts? Congress just passed them because they bought into what he was selling, as did the whole country when he was elected. He’s a good speaker, that’s it. The economy has really had NO “change” over his time in office. So yes, vote for him if you’re satisfied with just sitting back and not fixing our problems. Like I said, you Liberals. You’d defend Adolf Hitler if he was a democrat.

All of you need to be smart about what you say and not attack each other. The “all you liberals” comment was not needed. It was rude, unprofessional, and not important to the issue. As to who should be president it who would be better, let’s face it America hasn’t really had a great president in awhile and on both ends it looks about the same. I’m okay with most everything that the republican candidates are saying except for cutting things like Medicare and things like it down. If I didn’t have this I’d be homeless by now and not any medical care available. Everyone needs to not focus on themselves and think about others need and where they are at in their life. It’s easy to point fingers when your not or have ever been in their situation.

        Lovely

Obama is driving plenty of jobs overseas now. His administration is sending the message that we need to tax those “evil corporations” that make all of these “evil profits”, but our corporate tax rates are already the highest in the world. The reason jobs are going overseas is because it is too expensive to manufacture anything here anymore. If a business has to pay 35% in taxes (just an example not the actual rate) for the profits they make in the United States, but they only pay 15% in taxes for their profits overseas, it doesn’t make any sense to do business in the USA. Don’t even get me started on Obamacare, as this also encourages employers to outsource jobs to other countries. Why would a large employer hire American workers where they have to pay all of these healthcare benefits to employees when they can simply hire someone overseas and save thousands of dollars per year in labor costs? We live in a global economy today, and that means we have to be able to compete with other countries for labor. We can’t compete when we have liberals expecting the government to pay for everything.

hmmm,,,I don’t know about neither one,,I was never politically active never understood republicans vs democrates ,,in this country ,,, communisim is slowly gripping us, socialism slowly is rising,,,capitalism is not working rich continue to mash the middle class to lower class , you work your butt off 3 days for the government the rest is your money,,noone wants to give help to learn to better yourself without big money to pay for it , so you’r screwed . you get your paychek pay off bills plus doctors rob you with nothing left,, you might as well be under medicaid paying 3.00 per meds, and if you have 20 different meds this will be ok, if they take that away, well dig a hole for your loved ones, because you’ll be in the hole too!!

Stealing what jobs? Are you willing to work out in the fields? Or how about clean up motels, hotels, nursing homes and businesses? These are jobs that the average American is too prideful to do, and God forbid you have a degree, I’ve watched people go broke before they applied for those jobs.

The US will never get a ‘normal’ person as President until he system is changed.
It’s ridiculous spending the amount of money to become President – Romney is already rich beyond most people’s wildest dreams – so you have to question his motives.

I’m surprised that some people in these comments blame a president and his administration for the economic woes occurring, as if changing presidents will suddenly bring in a flood of jobs; a slight of hand will change the current depressed state of the economy. All of these political talking heads will simply payback the corporations that gave them campaign contributions, and then think that spending billions of dollars on superficial projects will turn things around and make reliable, sustained employment. It’s a very complex process people and it’s not the ruling party’s fault that the economy is stagnant. If you want things to miraculously improve then you know nothing of even the basics of economics, tack onto this the fact that the USA, as well as almost every other country, are global entities i.e. economic problems aren’t domestic but global. and then tack onto this the fact that people are carrying too much personel debt; that those who are frugal with their money and save are making less on their money; employers are cautious about re-hiring because of the overall global outlook; tack onto this that the economic policies implemented in the US and other democratic countries have fallen behind a globe that is changing ever more rapidly with each month… the list goes on and on. People seem to like to simplify the economic woes present. If Romney, or Gingrich, etc were in power right now they would be facing the same problems and the dissatisfaction in the public at their inability to make the economy stable once again. Same story every election, and anything but a total revolution in how we do business globally, and a transformation of our economic model, will turn things around. Instead whichever candidate becomes president will make temporary jobs in oil/gas/coal, infrastructure projects and other avenues, little attention and $$ put into entrepreneurship, etc. None of these ‘make work’ jobs will last for decades, all will disappear eventually. The problem isn’t these candidates it’s people in general – that “What’s in it for me?” attitude. What you think about is what is favorable for you, and you don’t want to be part of anything if you find that you don’t get anything out of it. …part of the reason why corruption has filled political life, and large corporations get what they want, among other things… In the US people are afraid of their government, whereas in other countries people stand up to their government when it has lost its direction. So keep simplifying the deep systemic issues at home instead of standing up and doing something about it. Until you stand up you’ll be met with status quo. …and honestly, the only candidate who comes close to avoiding status quo is Ron Paul, too bad some of his ideas are disagreeable.

Here’s the thing Logan….if we keep it up there will come a day when we have to salute to a flag that China dictates under. We outsource roughly 69% of our labor. We turn the other way when China refuses to enforce industrial codes on their factories, so global warming just keeps on a creeping up. China is stocking up on war machines that are as much as 4 times what we have in the US. They are just waiting for the day we are economically broken and vulnerable. Get ready brother! Chuck

If you are worried about China there is a way you can change their financial position. STOP buying anything that has a “made in china” sticker on the bottom. Every American citizen has control over global economics by controlling what they consume. Stop hiring illegal immigrants to mow your yard and get out there an mow it yourself. They will go back to mexico if they can’t get work and perhaps the nation with the fattest citizens in the world will loose a bit of weight and then we won’t need so much health care because our arteries are clogged from sitting on the couch watching “reality” TV. Let’s get real folks?

Lori, you hit the nail on the head so to speak…..too bad none of the population will even think about doing this! They all want the easy way out, because they were given a choice. It should go back to how it used to be, you do the work yourself! Get off your keister and save some money, whether it’s to buy clothes, boots, or a damn candy bar every night at least you will have the money to do it. I agree with Tasha, also….stealing our jobs? C’mon people, if you stopped thinking you were too good to clean a bathroom, mow a lawn, work fast food, and clean up after the elderly (degree or not) then you wouldn’t be “going hungry”, or making ends meet. It doesn’t matter who the president is, it all falls back on “We The People”

WOW – either you are in the United States “legally” or you are an “illegal immigrant” who yes is a human being but is never-the-less in the United States illegally!!!! You are not allowed to work in the US without a working visa. You are not being singled out you are here illegally – it would help the economy because the jobs that American teenagers used to work to pay for college would open back up, instead of there being no jobs for teenagers and them having to take our student loans. If you didn’t want your family to be broken up why did you come to the United States??? Why not stay in Mexico with your family??? If you come here and get deported that is what is suppose to happen. If you come here illegally and have a child and then get deported – if you don’t want to be separated from your child take them back to Mexico with you, then you will be together.

Here is what “breaks my heart” Karen Gonzalez that you can not spell “immigration” correctly. Do you know how many American Tax dollars have been spent to accommodate illegal immigrants in this country because they can not speak English? Do you know that there are 450,000 illegal immigrants in Illinois alone – probably half of them are working! That is 225,000 jobs that American Teenagers or American’s who are out of work – could be filling, but instead an illegal immigrant is filling the position and bringing down wages for EVERYONE!!!! Some of these illegal immigrants probably do not pay taxes – probably many of them do not. That is money that the American government needs to help all the people who can not help themselves around the entire FREAKING world!!!! What “breaks my heart” is to watch my American turn into a “spanish colony” and for my government to do next to nothing. We used to be one of the wealthiest countries in the world and we can not secure our boarders?????

So would I Lori. The young kids and most of the illegal aliens that are brought or come over here don’t understand that we went into debt helping them out. Letting them work here tax free just to send money to their families back home. And not all of them bring their families over, they just keep sending money over there so they can live the life. Yay, you want your family to have the best of everything. What about the kids over here and families that have nothing because you people make it next to impossible for us legals to give our families what they need. So Karen, count yourself lucky you are even still here.

Americans are called citizens because they have the God given right to own firearms to protect themselves and a last resort for overturning an rogue government which is what we have now. This is not a constitutionally governed nation. Politicians have run amok. If we lose our right to own firearms and they are working hard toward that, we will not be citizens, we will be subjects and quite nearly have reached that point. We will be subjected to hard tyranny and the gateway to genocide is in disarming the people. There is not one genocide that has taken place where the people are not first disarmed if they had firearms, no exceptions. We cannot allow them to force this onto us and force it they most surely intend to do. If we do not diligently seek the restoration of constitutional law and succeed, we will all suffer a tremendous indescribable loss. Ron Paul 2012

I personally disagree with what romney stands for, i believe gays should be allowed to marry and have rights that a woman and a man can have(though I really don’t want to see children in that envirement), I believe woman have the right to choose wether or not they have a baby, I believe negotiation is a key component although, I don’t like his obama care. Romney disagrees with everything i just said except for the last one, obama care did not work.

Anyone who trusts Obama has got to be living under a rock. We don’t even know if he is truly an American citizen. He backs Muslim countries while ours is going down the tubes! I don’t think there are truly any good presidential candidates right now, but at the rate that Obama is going, we won’t have our beautiful America anymore. It will be a socialist country. And all of our men and women who have died to keep our country free will have died in vain. We need to keep our right to bear arms because if we don’t, the government will take us over and then we will have no way to fight back. Obama has done nothing for this country and we are just as bad off as we were 4 years ago. We need a true American President and I just don’t see anyone stepping up to the plate right now. We have got to get our country back to where it was before. We ARE the best country in the world, but we won’t be if Obama gets in another term or if we don’t get better candidates! Wake up people and see the writing on the wall! We need to keep our USA great!

We need a Presdent who will put God first and allow God to be brought back into our schools and other government places. God is who this country was built on and if you want to live in the United States, worship to the one and only living God should be allowed. I am not against other religous beliefs to be allowed, but Christian beliefs SHOULD be allowed. “God Bless America and the world”

I think I just felt my IQ drop reading some of these posts. Seriously.

This country was built on God? God wasn’t even added to the pledge until many years after it had been written. The men who wrote and signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were humanists, not Christians.

They wrote the amendment to protect the freedom of religion because people had been persecuted for their beliefs and they felt the government had no rights to interfere, not so people could push their religion into the public’s face and force their beliefs into our laws.

Obama supports Muslims more than he does his own country? What about Bush protecting the Bin Ladens right after 9/11? Sending our troops to go die so his cronies could make a bigger profit and have better access to the pipelines? Even if you believe their pretext that they were bringing freedom from despotic rule and democracy to Iraq and Pakistan, why there and not work instead on bridging the widening gap between the rich and poor here instead? What about people like Romney who are more than happy to send your job overseas so they can make a bigger profit and get you to buy into their schemes because “Oh my god! Flip flops are on sale at Walmart again!” Sorry, what was I saying? Yeah.

For this country becoming a socialist country, one of the greatest presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt passed way more socialist policies than Obama has attempted to and those programs helped bring our country out of the Depression. People who live in socialist countries have a higher life expectancy rate (and not just because they have national health care policies, another Socialist idea), score much higher in science and math (if Finland were a butt, America would be its toilet paper), and have much lower crime rates.

Hell, I live in Taiwan now (I left a few months after Bush was first inaugurated and vowed to never return until the people who put them pulled their heads out and stopped voting against their own interests… and I am still here 11 years later with very little hope of returning any time soon) and all of this is true. Children and adults respect their elders and teachers. The violent crime rate, even in Taipei which is one of the most densely populated places on the planet with over 3 million people, is lower than my Ohio hometown of only 50,000 people. Children can play safely without fear of being kidnapped or molested (partly because the news isn’t filled with stories about kids being kidnapped and molested at a rate 100 times higher than it actually happening like in the States). And for its morality, the number of Christians in Taiwan is almost negligible.

Trevor, I’m sorry some illegal alien stole your job as a migrant fruit picker or as a motel housekeeper or as the guy who goes through dumpsters to sort out the recycling or who wipes the behinds of the elderly in a nursing home or who cleans up venues after a big party… Wait, what’s that your say? You were working at a job that pays above minimum wage? Maybe you can enlighten me which jobs illegal immigrants are actually stealing from citizens like you so I won’t make the mistake of, you know, using my brain to think of jobs that they are forced to take because no one who has a choice would be willing to do those jobs.

It is a well-known fact that most of the founders of this country were Christians. World War II brought the country out of the Great Depression because of all of the jobs that were created when we were at war. Not socialist policies.

Hey Tara Scott im glad your in Taiwan and not here. You should never be allowed to come back. For all voting for Obama good luck in the next four years his medical plan by itself will cripple the economy.By adding what we pay to medical insurance companies as taxable income alone is an issue.

Robert watch your language and don’t make threats. I only approved your comments after editing what you had to say. I don’t like some people either, but we are just as bad if we threaten others.

truth is no matter who they put in office it is to screw the American people.Ron Paul would’ve been the best candidate because he knows that our government are crooks and therefore he wasn’t given the media attention he deserved.Obama is unamerican therefore cares not where this country is going let alone the people or our future well being,he is only putting nails in the coffin to our people.he cares more about other countries feelings and well being all the while we are being thrown under the bus for our hard earned dollars for countries that hate america and its people.

I never looked at Obama that way, and I have to say you’re right. This country is going to hell and he cares so much about other countries that hate us. Great point! I’m all for peace but if you’re own country is suffering, that’s what needs to be taken care of FIRST.

I strongly agree on restrictions when it comes to guns, and his view on foreign policy, but drilling oil in the wildlife refuge?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Oil spills are not as uncommon as people think, and if you had one there, in the WILDLIFE REFUGE, where the animals are supposed to be safe?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! HOW STUPID IS THAT?! That’s like walking into the bad part of town with a stack of money hanging out of your pocket, it’s not gonna end well. You’d get robbed and beaten. It’s Murphy’s Law: what can go wrong, will go wrong. America is gonna go down in ruins if idiots like this run our country.

I think we need to separate religion from politics, treat each other like human beings, and cooperate/ negotiate with one another better. I feel like our government does not care about its citizens, but instead more about how much money they will make. Our leaders receive money from lobbyists to vote a certain way, so how much good are they really doing? Our country’s only ambition is money. We need to stop sending our jobs overseas and create more jobs, I am not saying Obama is good, but I am also saying Romney is no better. I guess this is a pessimistic view, but I don’t really see a candidate out there who is really in it for the average person.

Revisit some of obamas ideas about ending tax credits for companies that ship jobs overseas. Republicans killed the vote in the house.

Maggie, That’s what I thought our country was based upon: the separation of church and state. Or did some of you miss that very important part of history class? Our nation was established by British colonists who wanted to have freedom from persecution due to the religious laws put in place by the King of England. Our country has become what it is today because of our collective ability to allow people personal freedoms and opportunities that other countries withhold from them. Personal attacks on one another only show your immaturity and lack of understanding on the political issues. I am starting to believe that voting should not be a right for citizens, but an earned privilege. Politicians are always groomed to say whatever will appease the masses. If you want to elect someone who can really make a change, look for a candidate who isn’t interested in all the fanfare and media coverage, and instead works best behind closed doors and goes on national telveision with SOLUTIONS. Too bad that person doesn’t exist =(

mitt romney doesn’t want us to have the right to bear arms? that makes me feel very uncomfortable.. and personally I think ron paul sounds like a moron, lets legalize marijuana, use foreign oil resources and stop traditional marriages? typical liberal. lets put God back into this country, stop illegal immigrants from taking jobs, pay our debt off, keep our right to bear arms, and bring america back up. I don’t know if romney will be the best candidate but hopefully a hell of a lot better than obama. come on guys, we don’t even know if he’s an american citizen, his obama care isn’t right for our country and I think our country has only gotten worse since he’s been in office. educate yourselves guys, we need somebody to save america not destroy it.

What this country needs is a prayer. God is the only answer. I also agree that God should have never been taken out of the schools. Children no longer have any respect. That is why my child goes to a Christian school that teaches them daily on how God is our lord and savior. To love one another. If you read the bible you will read that homisexuality is an abomination to God. That is why he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. I also recommend listening to Irvin Baxter on Endtime ministries. He explains the prophesy of the bible and how all the events taken place right now is falling right into place with the bible. I don’t feel that either candidate is what we need. We need a miracle .

Has anyone here had an illegal immigrant hired in place of them?? I do not know anyone who has had that happen to them. Most illegal immigrants are working jobs most Americans will not work. If you are working one of those jobs maybe you should stop leaving comments on here and acquire a better education and get a career. I love how people cannot rightfully back up their opinions with facts on here so they resort to correcting grammatical errors. Seriously, grow up people. Both candidates have their faults. None of the candidates will be able to get the job that needs to be done accomplished in four years. Obama tried something out but failed. At least he had an idea. We need people to stop worrying about what “parties” they affiliate with and work together to try to come up with some beneficial ideas to get us out of this rut. Instead people resort to abandoning our country to shit because they cannot get over the fact that one is a democrat and one is a republican.

Neither are great! All politicians are dirty millionaires. Why can’t we actually have a normal, real, hard working American as president?? Why does it take so much darn money to even campaign to be in office? We will never get a honest person as president because those people can’t even afford to run!!! Who says our president has to be a rich politician?? It’s the dirty way of our world!

If we could only get Bill Clinton back in we would be good! I understand people in other countries need help, bu HELLO what about us AMERICANS that struggle every day to put food on our tables, maintain our homes, go to work everyday just to be taxed like crazy and end up paying taxes at the end of the year? We need a president that is going to look out for us, we now are in a crisis and I don’t see any other countries jumping in to help us out! Look at how much actress’s and actors, singers, sports players, ect…get paid living in luxury, yes they are performers but so are us everday working people! As far as immigrants, they get to come here and take over, turning all the business’s in Milwaukee into Latino stores, restaurants, ect…if you want to be here so bad then you should have to do the right thing to be legal here and stop taking away from us, pay taxes, stop getting free everything, and once and for all stop ALL THE BREEDING, and if you are so proud of your country then go back and live there stop sending all our AMERICAN money back to Mexico, you need to put into the system just like the rest of us!

Good points all around Suzy. Send them back to their oh so great country! And no one is offering up help to our country, like hey why don’t you send all of our illegals back to us? Screw the presidential election, it’s all for show. The government needs a puppet to bring about their New World, end of story. Us poor individuals being triple taxed will just be a blur to the rich and end up paying more for everything just because we work for our money, we don’t have people doing everything for us.

I’m pretty disappointed!! I didn’t really like either candidate, but I did feel we needed a change. Either way, we’d be screwed. I just was hoping perhaps Romney could change things up a bit. God help us!!
